Immunity Ballet is a diptych oil painting portraying the resilience of the human body against disease. Miami Blend is a triptych oil painting exploring the convergence of Art Deco and traditional Iranian art. Vibrant hues and intricate techniques invite viewers to ponder the interconnectedness of culture and art. Through this piece, I celebrate the enduring impact of culture on artistic expression, transcending temporal, and spatial disparities. The artwork highlights parallels between Art Deco and Iranian art, emphasizing culture’s enduring influence on artistic movements.

Migrant Horizons reflects my migration journey from Iran to Canada, depicting the memories of mountains and representing the experiences of migrants worldwide. This piece speaks to the universal theme of migration and the personal significance it holds for me, echoing broader narratives of displacement and belonging. The artwork sheds light on the experiences of migrants and the cultural significance of landscapes, inviting viewers to contemplate broader socio-political contexts.

In Evil Eye, a mixed media exploration of self-perception and belonging, the intricate layers and textures within the eye socket metaphorically reflect the complexity of identity. Through its evocative nature, the painting prompts viewers to introspect on the influences shaping their sense of “home,” encapsulating the interplay between inner self-awareness and external judgment.

In Everything is a Blur, my artistic journey evolved from a planned depiction of a crystal geode to a vibrant exploration of contemporary art trends, symbolizing the surreal uncertainty of quarantine. Pushing boundaries, I embraced discomfort, intentionally blurring details to transcend limitations and evolve as an artist, ultimately crafting a testament to my commitment to growth amidst challenges.

Nona Niroumand, hailing from Iran, embodies a journey marked by the profound quest for self-expression. Her name, a blend of English “No” and Persian “Na,” encapsulates her relentless pursuit of affirmation. Initially grounded in classical painting, she drew inspiration from Renaissance luminaries such as Raphael and da Vinci. However, her artistic odyssey took a transformative turn upon encountering abstract and modernist paradigms—a revelation akin to discovering uncharted creative frontiers. Despite societal norms favoring conformity over innovation, particularly for women, Nona bravely defied convention, transcending traditional artistic boundaries. Her oeuvre, initially steeped in realistic landscapes reminiscent of bygone eras, now explores the avant-garde and surreal, akin to the rebellious awakening of adolescence.

As an Iranian artist currently based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, my artistic journey is a testament to the transformative power of migration and the enriching impact it has had on my life and creative expression. Rooted in a lifelong passion for creativity, my practice has evolved into a multidisciplinary exploration, embracing abstract and modern art since my relocation to Canada.

Drawing inspiration from my Iranian heritage and the vibrant essence of my new surroundings, my artwork serves as a bridge between civilizations, celebrating diversity and unity. The intricate details in my paintings, a signature of my style, now coexist with the freedom and expressive qualities found in abstract and modern art, reflecting the convergence of personal and cultural experiences.

Through my art, I explore intimate and personal themes while also delving into broader explorations of cultural fusion and interconnected realms. Recent works, set against the backdrop of Miami Beach, illustrate the intersection of my Iranian history with the vitality of Ocean Drive, creating a visual dialogue that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.

Utilizing a dynamic combination of mediums and methods, including oil painting, magnets, and colorful lights, I invite viewers to engage in an immersive visual experience that celebrates the beauty of diversity and the transformative potential of art in our shared human heritage.
